Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammad Bin Salman, has given an order to stop mosque iftar gatherings ahead of Ramadan, which is expected to start from March 11 to April 9 this year.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued this instruction to mosque staff, directing them not to organize iftar events inside the mosques or collect money for such gatherings. Instead, the mosque leaders, known as imams, and the call to prayer announcers, called muezzins, will oversee iftar meals in the mosque courtyards to ensure cleanliness.
The directive also advises against taking pictures or videos during prayer times to maintain the sacredness of the atmosphere. Additionally, broadcasting prayers on any media platform is not allowed.
This decision shows Saudi Arabia’s dedication to religious customs while also addressing practical matters and preserving a respectful environment during Ramadan.
