On Sunday, Shoaib Malik, a well-known Pakistani batsman, achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first player from Pakistan to hit 1,000 fours in T20 cricket.
This accomplishment occurred during a National T20 Cup match between Sialkot and Rawalpindi regions in Karachi.
Malik, with a total of 446 international matches for Pakistan, reached this feat in 482 innings, making him the eighth player globally to achieve this milestone.
Additionally, he completed 400 sixes in T20s, making him the only Pakistani to achieve this.
Currently captaining Sialkot in the National T20 Cup, Malik scored 84 runs off 56 balls, including 10 boundaries, setting a target of 164 runs.
Despite his efforts, Rawalpindi successfully chased the target in 18.4 overs.
Shoaib Malik, expressing his desire to surpass Chris Gayle’s record for the most T20 runs, needs 1,719 more runs to achieve this milestone.
With 12,843 runs in 482 innings, Malik is still going strong after 24 years since his international debut in 1999.
Known for his longevity in Pakistani cricket, Malik has represented the country in ODIs, Tests, and T20Is, showcasing his skills both with the bat and ball.
