The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is helping unemployed women in Dera Ismail Khan by offering them interest-free loans to start their own businesses. This aims to boost the economy and increase female participation in the workforce.
Fazal Muqeem, the SBP’s Deputy Chief Manager in Dera Ismail Khan, made this announcement during a seminar called ‘Women bankability and banking on equality’ at the Government Polytechnic Institute for Women. He explained that women can use these loans to create their businesses, which can help support their families.
Muqeem mentioned that rising prices affect everyone, especially those with limited income. Since job opportunities are limited, starting their businesses can be a solution. The government, with the support of the SBP, has introduced policies to empower unemployed women. They’re opening bank accounts for women and providing interest-free loans of up to Rs0.5 million.
During the seminar, Muhammad Zubair, an Assistant Director, emphasized the importance of digital technology and encouraged citizens to become income tax filers to reduce their tax burden.
Sara Khan, the Principal of GPI for Women, expressed her gratitude to the SBP for their support in making women more self-sufficient through skill development. She believes that many women in Dera Ismail Khan will benefit from these policies and hopes for more such seminars to help eligible women in the region.
The initiative aims to empower women economically and enhance their role in society.
