Elon Musk has announced that SpaceX’s future Starship rockets will be taller than the Great Pyramid of Giza. The current Starship is already very impressive, standing at 120 meters tall and being the tallest and most powerful rocket ever built. It can generate a massive 7.5 million kilograms of thrust.
Musk expects the next versions of Starship to be even taller, reaching about 140 meters. To put this in perspective, the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is the largest of the Egyptian pyramids, is 137 meters tall.
The Starship has been designed with big goals in mind. It will be used to transport crew and cargo to the Moon as part of NASA’s Artemis program. Eventually, it is intended to help establish a human colony on Mars.
However, there is still a big challenge ahead in creating a reliable and reusable heat shield for the Starship. This heat shield is crucial for the rocket to withstand the intense heat it will encounter when re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
