If you’re driving in the UAE, it’s important to pay attention to speed limit signs as there have been recent changes. Studies have shown that adjusting speed limits can improve road safety, and when drivers follow the rules and drive responsibly, it can reduce serious accidents.

Authorities in various regions of the UAE regularly assess road conditions and traffic regulations, leading to speed limit revisions. Here is a guide to recent speed limit changes on certain roads:

Sweihan Road, Abu Dhabi:

Starting from June 4th, the speed limit on this road, specifically from Al Falah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi International Airport, will be reduced from 140km/h to 120km/h.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road, Abu Dhabi:

Since April, Abu Dhabi authorities have implemented a minimum speed limit of 120km/h on this major highway. From May 1st, violators will face a fine of Dh400. The maximum speed limit is 140km/h, but drivers must maintain a speed of 120km/h if they are on the first and second lanes from the left to avoid the new penalty. Slower vehicles can use the third lane, where no minimum speed is specified.

Dubai-Hatta Road:

In January, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reduced the speed limit on the Dubai-Hatta Road from 100km/h to 80km/h. This applies to a 6km stretch spanning Dubai, Ajman, and the Al Hosn roundabout.

Masfout and Muzair’a areas, Ajman:

Following the announcement in Dubai, the Ajman Police changed the speed limit on the Hatta street in Masfout and Muzair’a areas from 100km/h to 80km/h. Warning signs have been placed to indicate this revision.

Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road:

The Abu Dhabi Police have reduced the speed limit on this highway from 160km/h to 140km/h. This change applies from Al Sad Bridge to Al Amera Bridge in the direction of Al Ain City. It’s important to note that there are no speed buffers in place in the UAE capital.

Wadi Madiq – Kalba road:

Since this wide road does not have residential areas or urban centers nearby, transport authorities have increased the speed limit from 80km/h to 100km/h. This road, also known as E102, connects Wadi Madiq to Kalba, which is only 12 kilometers away from the Fujairah border.

It’s crucial for drivers to be aware of these speed limit changes and adjust their driving accordingly to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road.
