In 1956, IBM introduced the first computer storage system using magnetic disks, called the Random Access Method of Accounting and Control (RAMAC).
It was a revolutionary technology at the time and paved the way for modern data storage systems. The RAMAC used fifty 24-inch disks to store up to 5 MB of data, which was a significant amount for the time.
The system was widely adopted by businesses and government agencies for its ability to quickly access and store large amounts of data, and it laid the foundation for the development of hard disk drives that are still in use today.
