The sheer weight of the machine is mind-boggling, tipping the scales at an astonishing 45,500 tons. To put that into perspective, it weighs almost as much as the famous ocean liner Titanic, which weighed 46,328 tons.
The Bagger 288 operates using a bucket wheel system, which consists of a large wheel with buckets attached to its circumference.
