Three-Time World Cricket Umpire of Year Aleem Dar to Retire After Champions Cup

Aleem Dar, a legendary figure in the world of cricket umpiring, has announced his retirement following the conclusion of the Champions Cup. At the age of 56, Dar leaves behind an incredible legacy, having officiated in a remarkable 448 international cricket matches.

This includes 145 Test matches, 231 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 72 T20 Internationals, making him one of the most experienced umpires in cricket history.

Dar’s career spanned two decades, during which he earned immense respect and recognition for his skills on the field. Known for his calm demeanor, sharp decision-making, and deep understanding of the game, Aleem Dar has been a part of countless memorable moments in international cricket.

He joined the International Cricket Council (ICC) Elite Panel of Umpires in 2003 and remained a valued member until 2023, marking 20 years of service at the highest level of the sport.

Throughout his career, Dar officiated in five ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups, including multiple finals, such as the 2007 and 2011 World Cup finals. His steady presence during these crucial matches showcased his expertise and confidence under pressure, earning him admiration from players, fellow umpires, and cricket fans around the world.

In 2004, Aleem Dar made history by becoming the first Pakistani umpire to be included in the ICC Elite Panel. His exceptional performances in this role did not go unnoticed, and from 2009 to 2011, he was honored with the ICC Umpire of the Year award for three consecutive years.

This achievement made him one of the top figures in the world of umpiring and highlighted his dedication to ensuring fair play on the cricket field.
