Muhammet Hekimoğlu, the Turkish Ambassador to Oman, has confirmed that both Turkey and Oman are working on relaxing entry visa requirements for each other’s citizens. This means that people from both countries may soon be able to visit without needing visas.
The ambassador emphasized his efforts to strengthen tourism cooperation between Turkey and Oman. He plans to organize various events and meetings to attract Turkish tourists to visit Oman and explore its tourism potentials.
The relationship between Oman and Turkey has a long history dating back to the sixteenth century, and their cooperation extends to various fields such as commerce, industry, culture, and art. They also signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the ‘Yunus Emre Institute for Teaching Turkish Language’ in Muscat during a joint committee meeting in Ankara in 2022.
In 2022, more than 130,000 Omani tourists visited Turkey, and it is expected that this number will increase with the visa-free relaxation and the recovery of tourism after the Covid pandemic.
Both countries offer numerous attractions to tourists. In Oman, visitors can enjoy the beauty of the Wahiba Sands desert, explore the historical wonders of Muscat’s Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, discover the peaceful fjords of Musandam, and visit the ancient city of Nizwa with its impressive fort. Oman also offers traditional markets, delicious Omani cuisine, and warm hospitality.
In Turkey, tourists can experience a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures by visiting landmarks like Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. They can also explore the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia, take a scenic Bosphorus cruise, and relax on the pristine beaches of Antalya.
