In an effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the holiest site in Islam, Masjid Al Haram in Makkah, two new crescents have been erected on minarets near the King Abdulaziz Gate.
These crescents are constructed using an iron framework covered with carbon fiber molding, giving them a visually striking appearance. The addition of a gilded glass coating further adds to their allure, as they are positioned at a height of 130 meters.
Mohammed Al-Waqdani, undersecretary of the Projects and Engineering Studies Agency at the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, emphasized the significance of the crescents in Islamic and Masjid Al Haram’s architectural features.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, president of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, highlighted the collaborative efforts with various partner agencies to successfully install the crescents on the two minarets.
Notably, Masjid Al Haram boasts 13 minarets, along with other significant sites such as the Kaaba, Black Stone, Zamzam Well, Maqam Ibrahim, and the hills of Safa and Marwa.
