UAE Police Warn of Upto 30,000 Dirhams Penalties for Fans Violating Rules As Football League Begins

As the much anticipated, football league prepares to kick off in the UAE, local authorities are reminding fans to follow the rules. The Dubai Police have issued a clear warning, those who engage in violent behavior could face hefty fines of up to Dh30,000.

In anticipation of the Adnoc Pro League starting tomorrow, the police have launched a campaign to get fans ready. Major General Rashid Khalifa Al Falasi, who heads the Department of Protective Security and Emergency, has laid out the dos and don’ts for fans:

  • Stick to your seats and avoid entering the actual playing field or designated sports areas without permission.
  • Leave items like fireworks, which are prohibited and dangerous, at home.
  • Do not carry any weapons with you.
  • Make sure to sit only in the areas that are meant for spectators.

Penalties

The penalties and fines have been explained by Lt.-Col. Abdullah Tarsh Al Amimi, who is coordinating the campaign:

  • Breaking the mentioned rules could lead to imprisonment for one to three months or a fine ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh30,000.
  • Getting involved in acts of violence, inciting violence, or attempting such acts could result in imprisonment and/or a fine ranging from Dh10,000 to Dh30,000.
  • The same consequences apply for throwing substances or liquids of any kind.
  • Using insulting language (spoken or written) or making offensive gestures will also result in the same punishment.
  • Making racist statements or using the stadium for political purposes fall under the same penalty.

Major-General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-chief for Operations, has highlighted the importance of following guidelines when entering and leaving the stadiums. He stated:

These efforts apply to everyone attending and taking part in sports events and festivals, which have become an important part of the UAE’s society.

Moreover, he reassured everyone that the police are committed to maintaining the highest safety and security standards for sporting events.
