In the UAE, individuals have the opportunity to earn up to Dh10,000 per month by working part-time to supplement their income. Recruitment specialists explain that part-time jobs in the country offer competitive hourly wages, but the actual income depends on factors like the employee’s skills, the industry, and the urgency of the employer’s hiring needs. Part-time positions also benefit employers by providing a flexible workforce to manage short-term projects and seasonal demands.

Earning Potential of Part-time Jobs

According to UAE law, an employee can work for multiple employers by obtaining a permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Diamond Fares, the founder and managing director of On Point Portal, mentions that the earning potential for part-time jobs in the UAE varies based on industry, experience, job responsibilities, and duration. Hourly rates typically range from Dh75 to Dh150, depending on factors such as the number of hours worked and the employee’s experience.

Work Hours and Flexibility

On average, individuals work between 4 to 7 hours a day during part-time jobs in the hospitality and entertainment industry, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. The number of work hours for part-time employment contracts is not specified by UAE law. The actual work hours can vary based on individual preferences and job requirements.

Various Part-time Roles

Mayank Patel, the vice-president for sales at Adecco, explains that there are numerous part-time job opportunities available in the UAE based on individual candidates’ interests, skills, and experience. Some examples of part-time roles include retail sales associates, customer service representatives, content creators, food delivery drivers, social media managers, digital marketing specialists, event coordinators, brand ambassadors, administrative assistants, web developers, graphic designers, IT consultants, and network administrators.

Shift in the Hospitality Industry

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, part-time jobs in the UAE were primarily limited to specific events. However, there has been a noticeable shift in the hospitality industry since the pandemic, with more businesses embracing part-time positions. This trend is particularly evident in the seasonal nature of the F&B industry, where professionals are hired during peak seasons to increase staff numbers. A similar trend has also emerged in the retail industry during special occasions and sales in late 2022 and 2023.
