The United Nations made a terrible weather forecast. The world body says that the next five years may be the warmest on record.
The United Nations World Meteorological Organization says the combined impact of El Niño and greenhouse gases will lead to temperature rise and warned that we need to be prepared to face it.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned on Wednesday that the next five years are expected to be the warmest on record, with a 98 percent chance that at least one year out of the next five years and five years overall will be the warmest on record.
The WMO added that the combined impact of greenhouse gases and natural weather action, El Niño, will cause temperature rise from 2023 to 2027.
According to the WMO, between 2023 and 2027, the annual average global temperature is forecast to be between 1.1 degrees Celsius and 1.8 degrees Celsius higher than the average temperature of 1850 to 1900.
The report also predicts that winter in the northern hemisphere will be more than three times the global average for the next five years, with rainfall increasing in the coast, northern Europe, Alaska and northern Siberia, while parts of the Amazon and Australia will have the opposite situation.
