A teaser for the movie “Rawalpindi Express – A Shoaib Akhtar Biopic,” which is based on the life of former fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar, was released on Instagram on Tuesday.
However, earlier, Shoaib Akhtar had decided not to be a part of the movie’s production. There have been reports of a legal disagreement between Akhtar and the movie’s makers. Actor Mirza Gohar Rasheed will be playing the role of the cricketing legend instead of Umair Jaswal, who had stepped away from the project before.
Back in January, Shoaib Akhtar said he is disconnecting himself from the movie and its makers. He did this by ending the agreement through his management and legal teams. He talked about “disagreements” and “contractual violations” and even warned that he might take legal action if anyone tries to use his name and life story in any way.
The movie was announced in July last year, and at that time, Shoaib Akhtar was really excited about it. But later, he said, “Sadly, I want to tell you all that after thinking about it for a long time, I’ve decided to not be a part of the movie ‘Rawalpindi Express’ and its makers. I ended the agreement with the help of my management and legal team.”
The movie has been made by Muhammad Faraz Qaiser and produced by Kafeel Anwar. Some actors in the movie include Faran Tahir, Saleem Mairaj, Raheela Agha, Salman Shahid, Shafqat Cheema, and Usman Peerzada.
