The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast indicating an increase in rainfall accompanied by thunder in Karachi today (Sunday), which is expected to contribute to a cooler climate in the city.
According to the Met Office, the weather in Karachi over the next 24 hours is predicted to be partly cloudy, with the lowest temperature recorded at 18.4°C and humidity at 66%. Additionally, there are northeast winds blowing at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour.
Meteorologist Owais Haider has suggested the likelihood of drizzle and light rain in Karachi today, which could result in a drop in temperatures to around 15°C. This forecast implies a notable shift in weather conditions for residents of Karachi, ushering in colder temperatures.
Furthermore, there are indications of another rain spell in Karachi in December, though it is anticipated to be milder compared to the rainfall experienced last year. It is noteworthy that the previous day witnessed cold weather with rain and hailstorms in Karachi and other cities in Sindh.
Specifically, heavy rain was recorded in Gulshan Iqbal and Gulistan Johar areas, while drizzle persisted in II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Old City Area, Defence, Clifton, and nearby regions. These weather conditions also led to power outages in some areas.
