WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is introducing two new changes to its web version. These changes include a new chat share sheet and a redesigned emoji panel. The updates are currently available to some beta testers and will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
The chat share sheet has been completely revamped to make it more compact and labeled each icon for easier navigation. On the other hand, the emoji panel has undergone a redesign as well. Previously, it covered the entire bottom of the screen, but now it is displayed separately and in a smaller size, alongside the sticker and GIF tabs.
WhatsApp has been focusing on enhancing user experience by redesigning its interface. In the past, they introduced two updates for the Windows native app. One update allowed users to keep messages from disappearing, while the other redesigned the message menu, adding a reaction bar.
The “keep messages” feature gives users the ability to prevent certain messages from disappearing. This feature is already available on mobile apps and the Desktop Electron version of WhatsApp. Users can select the “keep” option within the message menu to retain specific messages. These messages will be listed within the chat info screen for easy access. However, users still have control over which messages they want to keep or allow to disappear by using the “upkeep” option.
Another new feature is a button for quickly sending a reaction. The redesigned menu now includes a reactions bar, improving the user interface and making it easier to express reactions to messages.
