Emirates Airlines, led by President Sir Tim Clark, has announced plans to make a significant aircraft purchase order. They are looking to acquire between 100 and 150 aircraft as a replacement for their Airbus A380 fleet, which will be phased out in the early 2030s. Clark confirmed this during an interview at the International Air Transport Association’s Annual General Meeting in Istanbul.
The airline is considering adding more Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 models to their fleet, and there is also a possibility of including the smaller Boeing 787 Dreamliner in their purchase plans. Clark mentioned that they will start making these orders soon.
Emirates intends to fulfill these orders between 2027 and 2033, aligning with the retirement timeline of their A380 aircraft in 2032. Clark acknowledged that the demand for air travel is currently strong, but there might be a slight decrease in the market around the middle of next year.
The official announcement of the order is expected to take place as early as next week or potentially during the Dubai Airshow. Emirates is taking proactive steps to ensure their fleet remains modern and efficient in the coming years.
