After being down for 39 hours, the popular micro-blogging site X, previously known as Twitter, is now working again in Pakistan.
The problem began at 9 p.m. on Saturday, causing trouble for users who wanted to see tweets and post new content. When they tried to open the site, they saw a message saying, ‘this site can’t be reached.’
Downdetector.pk, a service that tracks internet and social media outages in real-time, received reports of X being down. By 9:01 p.m., they had recorded at least 185 reports, and by 9:24 p.m., that number had increased to 239. Many users shared their frustration on social media while the site was unavailable.
NetBlocks, a cybersecurity group, confirmed that X was shut down in Pakistan. This adds to a series of recent internet problems in the country, including issues with other social media platforms.
This outage is especially important because it happened during the 2024 general elections in Pakistan, affecting many services. During important events like elections, people rely on platforms like X to share information and opinions.
It’s worth mentioning that X had a similar problem on a global scale back in May 2023. At that time, users all over the world experienced difficulties accessing the platform, leading to widespread complaints.
